Not all days will be productive and willing. There will be days when all we can do is get up in the morning or read a book. We had expectations, but they fell through towards the end of the week because we lacked motivation. And that is quite okay! We are human beings, not robots. We often get hard on ourselves because we didn’t finish a particular objective, do our work, or anything! As it is ok to take days off and chill out for a little while, there is the other side of the pendulum. Something I do too much of, and I get taken out by an illness, or my body shuts down because I have worked too hard. When we force ourselves to work more and more, we eventually will give out.
This week, I had so many plans, things to get done, and a lot of exciting events to partake in. As the week passed, I saw things fall apart; my expectations were ripped away. Wednesday morning came around, and It felt like a typical day. Wake up early for physical training in the morning and get to work. This workout wasn’t just like any workout, though. Our workout was a full-body workout that pushed your being mentally and physically. From a third view perspective, you would think 100 pushups is not that bad, but the way it was orchestrated, the pushups destroyed you. We then went on to do 100 different ab exercises and ran for 15 minutes. It killed me, and as the day went on, I felt more and more tired. I didn’t think anything of it; I thought I was exhausted and needed sleep. The next day, I very obviously found out I was sick. With a heavy chest cough and body aches accompanied by a pounding headache…I was out.
Ironically, the whole situation was funny because during the one week I had planned to attend many things, I got sick and could not go. I was upset, but it led to another lesson I still have to learn. It’s okay to stay down for a moment when you’re down. Take a break, relax, heal your body. As much as I wanted to help with certain things or hang out with friends, It started to snow this weekend. The number one lesson of being sick is, when it snows, and you’re sick…stay indoors.
Chilling and staying indoors doesn’t always mean you have to sleep and be in bed the whole time (although that’s probably what you should do). I did a lot of schoolwork, so even though I could not fly, play football, or help with community projects, I had a nice, peaceful time doing me things. Taking a day off and doing what you want is always ok. In the long run, it is healthier and won’t force your body to give out as the marathon continues.
Also, congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles! Though, who cares? It was the two teams no one cared about and also overhyped. But also, we can say that beating the Kansas City Chiefs and the Taylor Swift Empire is a win for America every day.
