To have passion means to live purposefully 

This week was full of good feelings and satisfaction. It was my birthday last Friday, and my parents visited for the whole week to celebrate with me! It was nice to be with them and show them my new home. They enjoyed Utah for the most part, the cold being the only factor. I told them they would get used to it if they stayed for a couple more weeks. When I lived in Norway, I was far from my family and could not see them for many months. Now, having the luxury of seeing them almost once a month is lovely and feels good. Their presence always helps me get my mind together and focus on what I must do. 

But the entire week was full of fantastic opportunities and rewarding gifts. Something I never was able to do was revelry! Hanging the flag up in the morning was fun and quite the experience. There was a good feeling of patriotism towards it. Doing activities like these and putting yourself in different situations is always good, and for me, it helps me understand what it is like to be an American or patriot. We are all trying to find ourselves and our identity in our everyday life. Air Force ROTC helps me learn daily what it means to serve others and ourselves, push who we are, and look out for our fellow brothers and sisters. 

At the end of the week, actually, on my birthday, I was awarded The Top Cadet of The Week Award. It paid off for last week’s work I threw myself into. I’ve learned being in a military-style environment is what I have always looked for. Referring to other times I have mentioned, being able to wake up early with others and pushing ourselves to be our best is everything I strive to do. Being a cadet means learning to push ourselves and always strive for excellence, which is the best we can do. There is no such thing as messing up or letting yourself down; if you understand what not to do next time and grow, that’s all you can do. 

To have passion means to live purposefully. To me, it means to fly with the winds and put your mind into everything you do. To be passionate means to be human. We are all passionate about something.
